The Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library
services) application allows access to all the services distributed by the SBA area requiring online authentication. Certain services are still in the experimental and testing stage.
The services currently available are: Services from OPAC (new OPAC Sebina Open Library)

- Document loan and consultation requests
- Document reservation requests
- Reader status verification
- Saving searches
- Saving bibliographies
- Suggesting acquisitions
- Request of interlibrary loan (ILL)
The categories of users indicated in the Service Charter
can access the services requiring online authentication.
Three conditions are necessary for access to the online services:

- be registered in the University AUL (AUnicaLogin) registry
- have a current codice persona (personal code) and a valid password
- be authorised for the requested application
AUL (AUnicaLogin) is the service that administers centralised SSO (single sign on) authentication processes for Politecnico di Milano applications. It relies on the University registry systems. For this reason, for authenticated access to University applications, it is essential to be registered beforehand, have a valid password and authorisation for the specific application. back to the index
Active institutional users
If an individual is among the most common institutional categories (for example teaching staff, student, technical and administration staff, fixed term contractor) and is active, they are automatically registered by the secretariat administering the category and hence should not need to register using the methods indicated below.
Hence, such users are automatically registered and authorised as long as their status remains active.
Students that have graduated from the Politecnico are also registered in AUL and do not require further registration.
These users are registered and authorised. They may request a valid password from the AlumniPolimi
Non-institutional users, or ex-institutional users that are no longer active (excluding Politecnico graduate students)
Non-institutional users that have never been registered in AUL, or ex-institutional users that are no longer active, should also make arrangements for prior registration with AUL, and may proceed in two ways:
This is done by contacting an operator at one of the SBA area libraries, who having verified the user data, will arrange for registration in the registry and provide the user with initial access credentials (to be altered at first login).
In any case, after registration, before being able to access services, it is essential to be authorised.
These users are neither registered or authorised.

There are two types of authorisations for accessing Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library services):
, for users present in the registry, with an active account:
- Students (of all classes, levels and types)
- Teaching staff
- Technical and administration staff
- Temporary staff
- Contract staff.
- Alumni Polimi
, for users not present in the registry, or present in the registry but with accounts that are no longer active: if the data is not present in the registry or insufficient to determine automatic authorisation, it is necessary to proceed through an operator, who will arrange for manual authorisation. In this case, it will be necessary for the user to go to one of the SBA libraries. (see section 7.1 - specific cases of manual authorisation for various types of users)
7.1. Specific cases of manual authorisation for various types of users
- Scholars of the subject (authorised)
Scholars of the subject should present the following form, signed by the member of the teaching staff presenting them, and go to one of the SBA libraries, where the operators will arrange for their authorisation for Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library services). This authorisation will be valid for all the University Librarian System libraries and for the Departments that have selected the open model. The duration of authorisation is for one year (academic year).
- Subscribers (regional campuses)
Registered users at the regional campuses are authorised for only the Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library services) of the territorial campus to which they subscribe, and not the services for all the SBA libraries.
Authorisation may be requested from the Polytechnic library subscribed. The duration of authorisation varies depending on the specific subscription. For more information, we recommend you contact the regional campus library to which you have subscribed.
- Visiting professors
It is envisaged that external teaching staff collaborating with Politecnico teaching staff for limited periods of time will be able to access the services delivered through the Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library services). The authorisation procedure is similar to that for subject scholars, but in this case, the duration of authorisation will be much shorter.
- "Other masters" users
Users enrolled on certain types of masters courses that are not registered in AUL (e.g. certain MIP masters courses) can obtain authorisation for the services delivered through the Servizi Bibliotecari di Ateneo (University library services) for the period of duration of the masters course.
- Retired members of Politecnico's staff
Retired members of Politecnico's staff can ask to be enabled to Politecnico Library Services.
